How much does a marriage celebrant cost in Townsville?
My standard personalised wedding ceremony in Townsville is $600. A no-fuss, elopement or low-cost wedding ceremony is $380, a renewal of vows is $380, a naming ceremony is $400 and a letter for immigration is $180. Ceremonies on Magnetic Island or more than 50km from Townsville have an additional travel charge, so just ask me for a quote. See my fees page for full details.
How do I secure my date?
A $180 non-refundable booking fee secures your date. It’s payable within 3 business days of asking to book, and your date isn’t locked in until it’s paid. The balance is due no later than 14 days before the ceremony. If you change your date after booking, a $70 change fee applies.
How far in advance do we need to organise things?
Legally, your Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) must be lodged with your celebrant at least one month before your wedding date, and it can be lodged up to 18 months beforehand. In special circumstances the one-month period can be shortened. Popular dates, especially Saturdays in the dry season, book out early, so it’s best to contact me as soon as you have a date in mind.
What documents do we need to get married?
You’ll each need your original birth certificate (or an Australian birth extract) or a current passport, plus photo ID such as a driver’s licence. If you’ve been married before, bring your divorce certificate, or your late spouse’s death certificate. Documents not in English need translating by an accredited translator. Do we need witnesses?
Yes. You need two witnesses who are over 18. I’ll need their full names, but it’s fine if you haven’t chosen them yet when we first meet.
Can we write our own vows?
Absolutely. Every ceremony I write is personalised around your story. A few short legal words must be included for the marriage to be valid, and I’ll make sure those fit naturally with the vows you write. Everything else is up to you.
Do you travel outside Townsville?
Yes. I perform ceremonies throughout Townsville and surrounds, including Magnetic Island, Ingham, Lucinda and beyond. Travel charges apply for Magnetic Island and anywhere more than 50km from Townsville.
Do you perform same-sex weddings?

What happens after the ceremony?
You’ll receive a ceremonial marriage certificate on the day. I then register your marriage with the Queensland Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages, and you can order your official marriage certificate from the Registry once it’s registered.
